Chatham County Safety Training Manager Leigh Herald has been named a delegate for the National Safety Council, a nationwide non-profit workplace safety advocacy organization.
Herald will join the team of NSC Delegates made up of dedicated NSC member employees and subject matter experts who provide direction, counsel and guidance to NSC staff and leadership. This team offers a wide range of perspectives and experience to benefit the Council, its policies, and its positions and offerings.
“NSC is proud of the partnerships it has with its members and recognizes the significant role our Delegates play in how we engage and connect with these crucial partners,” said Perry Logan, senior director of networks at NSC. “We look forward to Leigh Herald joining the committee, serving as a voice of our membership and helping others progress on their safety journeys. Through dedication and collaboration, great strides toward advancing safety in every setting will be achieved, and we thank Leigh for being part of this journey.”
Delegates are asked to assist with the execution of the Council’s strategic plan, provide direction, counsel and guidance to the Board of Directors, draft policy recommendations, and review and comment on proposed policy positions. They are also encouraged to share their expertise and provide feedback on Council programs and training opportunities.
"Serving as a delegate is an honor and a privilege," Herald said. "I look forward to bringing my expertise and experience from Chatham County to the national level while continuing to strengthen our safety culture at the County. This opportunity allows me to impact and influence safety practices and educational programming that will shape the future of workplace safety, with a focus on the unique needs of local government."
Additionally, Herald was named the Chairperson for the National Safety Council's Public Sector Division and serves as the Chairperson of the Defensive Driving International Advisory Committee.
