On this episode of The Chat, Will sits down with Chatham County Fire Department Captain Carl Sapp Jr. to discuss how closing your bedroom door could save your life during a fire.
A study by the Fire Safety Research Institute research found that closing doors and windows while sleeping decreased the risk of a fire spreading. Bedrooms on the first and second floor of a home were tested during the scenario.
Using thermal imaging cameras during fire's spread, researchers found that average temperatures on both floors were less than 100 degrees in closed-door rooms versus 1000+ degrees in the open-door rooms.
